This whole thing started as a campaign with a small label in NYC that lathe cuts vinyl for unsigned artists at the commission of their supporters. In my case friends and family requested original tunes from me and I recorded each person a unique, unpolished, alternate arrangement. On some tracks Mikayla and I played live around a mic just like the house shows we used to do. On most tracks I had a ball overdubbing whatever silly thing I thought was pretty on a given day. This gave a huge sense of freedom in place of my usual perfectionism and obsession (not to say those devils weren't around at all for these sessions).
